2010 Worlds Course & Weather Conditions

Posted on January 27th, 2010 by Erik

This weekend’s World Championships promise to be very exciting. Our crack squad here at The Run Up has been analyzing weather reports and current conditions to figure out what the course will really be like on Saturday and Sunday. The course is predominately grass, with a long paved section that runs through the Start/Finish area. The technical course features a variety of twist and turns and traverses a pair of hills, leading to plenty of elevation changes and a few long, straight sections. All in all, it favors a powerful, technical rider.

In addition to the course itself, the weather will be a key component in determining this weekend’s World Champions. There is a thin layer of frozen ice/snow that currently covers the course. Thursday calls for a 40% chance of snow, which could add to the mix and make things very interesting. There is little to no chance of mud due to the fact that the temperatures will barely reach freezing this week. In fact, the high for both Saturday and Sunday is a mere 27 degrees. Needless to say the technical course combined with slippery at best conditions will make tire choice and bike handling skills the biggest key for success this weekend.
