Weekend Predictions: Feb. 23/24

The 2018/19 cyclocross season officially comes to an end this weekend. A pair of C1 races in Leuven and Oostmalle are the final two races on the calendar. This season has been dominated by Mathieu van der Poel, however based on the start lists, he is not in action this weekend. Therefore it gives many riders one last chance for riders to grab some UCI points and show off their colors one last time.

Saturday, February 23rd

GP Leuven

The final Soudal Classics race takes place on Saturday in Leuven. Last years race was won by Corne van Kessel. Mathieu van der Poel is not on the start list, so we are assuming he is not taking part in the race. Here are our predictions:

  1. Toon Aerts
  2. Lars van der Haar
  3. Michael Vanthourenhout

Sunday, February 24th

Internationale Sluitingsprijs Oostmalle

The final race of the 2018/19 season takes place in Oostmalle on Sunday. Last year, Mathieu van der Poel won the race. More interestingly, his brother, David, bookended the podium, marking one of the few times the brothers have shared the stage. With no start list, we are going to take an educated guess at this years podium:

  1. Toon Aerts
  2. Lars van der Haar
  3. Laurens Sweeck
