Another month, another predictions round up. This month has the most predictions we have ever made, as we predicted the Elite Men’s and Women’s podium of all the European National Championships. As usual, we predicted other European races, but our success for January relied heavily on Nationals.
If you need a reminder of our points system, you can refer to September’s round up. The bottom line is that we can get a maximum of 12 points per race (the men’s and women’s are each worth six).

Results
Obviously, predicting 18 National Championships skews the results and the amount of points for January. The trickiest part is figuring out predictions for the smaller nations. Overall, we did quite well, mostly because for some of those smaller nations there were very few riders to choose from.
There were a total of 264 points on offer for this month. We managed to get 142 points which is 54%. That still gives us an improvement over last month where we got 53%.
In terms of predictions, this was our best month ever. We predicted seven podiums correctly, all of which were National Championships: Czech women, Dutch women, German men, Irish Men, Polish men and Women, and the Spanish women. You may have noticed that for the first time ever, we had a “perfect race,” with the Polish National Championships.
For the first time since October, we missed one podium entirely; the French men. In fact, that was our worst race, scoring one point.
While we had seven correct podium predictions, we narrowly missed out on five more. For the Italian National Championship we had all three women on the podium, just in the wrong order. The same goes for both the Portuguese men and women. We also came close for the Elite Men’s races at the final two rounds of the World Cup.
We will see a drastic reduction in races in February, but we are aiming for a 60+ percent.
