The cyclocross season is well under way. It’s already mid-November and we still haven’t checked out how our predictions for October went. As we saw in our September Predictions Round Up, things didn’t go so well. We only predicted two races and did terrible.
So, what did we do after doing so bad? We upped the ante. We decided to predict two races every weekend. Our predictions consisted of one European race and one North American race.
The first weekend lacked racing on both sides of the Atlantic, so our predictions consisted of three weekends of racing. In North America we predicted the results for day one of Charm City Cross, day two of DCCX and day one of the CincyCX Festival. On the European side, we predicted the results of Superprestige Gieten, the Bern World Cup and Superprestige Gavere.
If you need a reminder of our points system, you can refer to last months round up. The bottom line is that we can get a maximum of 12 points per race (the men’s and women’s are each worth six).

The Results
For the month of October, we could get a maximum of 72 points. We got a total of 31 points. That means we earned 43% of the total points. In September, we got six points out of 24 (25%), so we did a lot better this month. Especially because there were a lot more races.
As you can tell we did not predict any podiums correctly. However, we did get all three podium finishers correct for the Elite Men’s race at Charm City Cross. We just didn’t get them in the correct order.
We had a few podiums where we got two riders in their correct place. 15 of our points came from the Elite Men. The other 16 came from the Elite Women. So, we did slightly better with the women versus the men.
Overall, it was a slight improvement versus last month. We still haven’t had a perfect podium, so that’s our main goal. There are even more races to predict in November, so we shall see how we fare.
